Hybrid architecture, modern UX, and a smarter path to celebration.

The National Hole-In-One Registry celebrates golf’s most exciting achievement by allowing players to register and share their accomplishments online. Their legacy site had become rigid, hard to maintain, and lacked modern UX standards. We partnered with their team to deliver a complete rebuild that improved usability, performance, and future scalability.

  • Delivered full redesign with improved UX and mobile responsiveness
  • Rebuilt site using hybrid MACH architecture (WordPress + Gatsby.js + microservices)
  • Built scalable registration flow via custom microservice decoupled from CMS
  • Integrated comprehensive golf course database for easier submissions
  • Developed advanced certificate generation logic
  • Integrated Great Golf Memories for memorabilia upsells

A Rigid Platform Holding Back Growth

The previous system was clunky, hard to update, and lacked scalability. The rigid structure made it difficult for non-technical staff to manage content or add new features, while users struggled with outdated UI and confusing registration flows. It was clear the site needed a clean, modern rebuild that could scale over time.

Future-Ready Through MACH Architecture

We rebuilt the entire platform using a MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) approach. We implemented a headless WordPress CMS with a fast Gatsby.js frontend and developed a custom Node.js microservice to handle the core registration flow independent of the CMS. This architecture not only improved performance and flexibility but also ensures future platform updates can happen without affecting key functionality.

We integrated a comprehensive golf course database to standardize user submissions and simplify search. A custom certificate generation engine provided a cleaner, branded output for those who register. Finally, we built a seamless integration with Great Golf Memories to enable memorabilia sales directly tied to the user’s hole-in-one.

Smarter UX and Stronger Foundation

With the new MACH architecture and custom functionality in place, National Hole-In-One Registry now has a fast, flexible, and scalable platform. Content management is easier, user registrations are smoother and more consistent, and the entire experience now reflects the importance of the moments it celebrates. The new foundation supports their long-term growth without locking them into any one tool or system.
